Maneesh from India humbled everyone in his joyful, enthusiastic way when he shared with us that he had created his first beautiful, wooden puppet with only a utility knife, an old drill, and a hacksaw.

Our First Official Graduate of the Academy of the Wooden Puppet: Interview With Maïté Agopian
Maïté was our first student to complete all of the building projects in the Academy. She is a brilliant puppet performer and builder based in Alaska!

Interview With Belinda May
Belinda, an artist, and storyteller based in the UK, was a complete beginner when it came to carving and building wooden puppets. Now she is building her own original show featuring characters that she developed in the Academy.

Ayala is a puppeteer and artist based in Israel. She had never carved before joining the Academy, but now she is using her own wooden puppets in her performances and writing new stories incorporating her new carved characters.

Robert came to the Academy with a lot of experience as a builder and as a performer. He found that the Academy deepened and complemented the skills and knowledge that he has developed over a 30-year career in the arts.
