Hi dear student,
To become a successful artist, it is wise to integrate all the various strengths and qualities of our human capacity, both the mind and the heart, both intuition and clear precise thinking.
Consciously integrating all these gifts will lead to INTEND, the focused, crystal clear concentration of energy to reach our goals.
In that context we must learn to differentiate between struggle and inspired action.
Most artist have most likely experienced both. They might have experienced the easy flow of following an inspiration, picked up a piece a wood and created the marionette of their dreams. Yet, when it came to selling their puppet show or paying the rent for their studio it caused anxiety and sleepless nights.
The good news is that we can learn to find the golden balance. We can decide to consciously break the cycle of being stuck in either dream land or analytical thinking. But we must truly want that and we must admit that we have a choice. We are not victims.
It is certainly easier to complain and join the “artists must struggle chorus” than doing our necessary homework. But is it really? Is it not way more satisfying to initiate the rewards of change and possibly experience the ease and flow of inspired action and clear intend?
How to get there? Well in all honesty it took me a lifetime of conscious learning and un- learning. It takes the decision and willingness to change, letting go of old limiting beliefs, being truly open for new ways to enter our lives.
In my experience the backbone to such a life is meditation and mindfulness. Stillness, and a quiet mind will allow for sacred inspiration to enter our being. Out from this stillness springs inspired action = Intend. And because inspired action is not created from our egoistic limited thinking mind but a higher source, the Universe will support these actions in miraculous ways, commonly known as the “Law of Attraction”.
Here you go, these were my insights after my morning meditation, that you hopefully don’t mind me sharing with you. And what will I do now? I will do some bookkeeping, fun bookkeeping I say, as this is part of my holistic experience of being a successful artist. Then later today I will assist with rehearsals on the stage of the National Theater of Iceland, where my live-size horse and monkey (I shared the building process on social media) will celebrate a Premiere next Saturday. Later in the afternoon I will meet my students online for a super fun Q and A session, where I am sure we shall continue this discussion.
So, I let you go with my best wishes for your artistic wellbeing. Remember, success is only 5% talent and 95% mindset … you can do it too!!
